As some of you may be aware, the new teaser for 'Transformers: Robots In Disguise' was shown at Comic-Con today. Needless to say...not enthused. First, allow me to disclaimer the following by saying I'm not an artist. I'm barely a writer. Now, that said, the new series is, by far, the ugliest thing I have ever seen in regards to weak CG-Animation. It, sincerely, looks like a cheap attempt to copy the visual brilliance of Tron: Uprising.
It's blocky, poorly colored while also having a bizarre washed out effect (thought perhaps it was a poor quality version of the teaser, but a friend currently at SDCC confirmed the washed out observation) and the odd cell-shaded aesthetic looks cheaply done when compared to other examples of the genre. On top of this it just screams "Hot new show for little boys!" There looks to be almost nothing that isn't cliche in everything I saw.
To be fair I know nothing of the plot details and we've yet to be made privy to dialog, voice over performance, etc. However what I've seen (and knowing this new show is tied -loosely- into the Prime continuity) fills me with a melancholy I can not adequately describe. Given the *excellence* of the Cybertron games and ongoing fantastic comics by IDW there really was no reason why Hasbro could not have simply rebooted/retold Generation One with modern animation (of the non CG variety) and modern mature storytelling in the same vein as shows like Young Justice and Legend of Korra.
The kiddies already have Rescue Bots and, to a lesser extent, the Bay films and really that should be enough for them. However spoon feeding them (and G1 fans) this visual calamity that looks to make Transformers into an empty "Pew Pew" anime is, I feel, as much an insult to younger audiences as to the older ones.
Also, nice going making the first new Femme Autobot look like a guy. Seriously.
Anyway, for those of you who haven't seen it (unlikely if you're following me) here's the link. Enjoy or, like me, don't.

Not my usual thing...
I don't normally do anything like this (not because I'm oblivious or selfish or anything...) but an animation project was recently brought to my attention and the scope and magnitude of it's awesomeness is so massive that I can't not share it in the hope of getting it out there via Internet word of mouth to as many people as possible. So, if you can spare a buck, please take a peak and crack open that wallet with a crowbar please. Let's make this happen people!

So, yeah, finally watched the new 'Bayformers'
...and this sums up my general opinion better than even I, with my meager writing skills, could muster. Honestly, I just didn't have the strength for it

Transformers Prime The Finale
Right. So that happened :O_o:
Honestly, I've thought long and hard about what the finale might be; where it could (or even in some cases should) go. However, across all the varied scenarios I had seen in my mind's eye I can sincerely state that there were various aspects of this I did not anticipate. Sadly, thanks to Hasbro being unable to keep their respective mouths shut there were some elements of this that were ruined months in advance. Namely the "death" of Bumblebee and his subsequent resurrection. While this was spoiled, that did not however take from the powerful nature of the scene and what it entailed, namely the (ultimate?) demise

What blew it for me was the fact that the backgrounds were so flat when the rest was CG. Instead of, say, finding adult Miko, Jack and Raf, they bring in new humans. They reference Prime constantly, yet Bee and the rest look nothing like Prime and the Titan Prime comics. I really want to enjoy it but can't.
